PINOCCHIO - aka MARIUS ANDRIES - was one of the founders of the Swedish Techno Scene
("Techno in Scandinavia?" you ask - "Kjeld Tholdstrup" I reply - so it’s goodbye to
that particular prejudice before you start!)
Having made his name with ANTILOOP, Sweden’s first full on techno act,
Marius new identity made it’s debut on the NORDIC RAVE album. Following
on from that and the huge underground success of the "Musical Expressions
E.P." which contained the club hit "ABLETEARTE".
PINOCCHIO has now come up
with this corking Triple "A" side 12" TRACES OF TRANCE E.P. which contains 3 very different tracks
- "RED LINE", "PHANTASY" and "TRANSYLVANIA".
The first "A" side is graced with the presence of "RED LINE" - a banging trance
choon which wouldn’t appear out of place on Platipus Records Vol 1, spiced up
by a couple of nice breakdowns and rhythm changes.
The second "A" track is "PHANTASY" - a peach of a tune
which builds with an Orb-esque sample and vocal over a solid groove -
and then goes all ethereal on you - lovely!!
The third "A" track - on the same side as the second - is "TRANSYLVANIA",
is a gorgeous piece of melodic trance that uses a Jean Michel Jarre stylee
synth riff and a galloping rhythm to produce a mid-set stormer, that’s definitely
one to get your fangs into!
